Bring Your Values to Life

Bring Your Values to Life

PeopleCore works with you to turn your existing values into clear behavioural expectations and practical ways to reinforce them across your organisation.

You may already have organisational values, but having them written down doesn’t mean they are shaping everyday behaviour.

Bring Your Values to Life could be right for you if you want to:

  • Turn your values into clear, observable behaviours
  • Help people understand what your values mean in practice
  • Create greater consistency in how people work together
  • Help leaders role-model and reinforce your values
  • Identify where your values can be reinforced through key people practices
  • Make your values part of how decisions are made and work gets done

Your values only make a difference when people can see them, understand them and put them into practice.

We work with you to understand what your existing values mean in practice and how they can become more visible in everyday working life.

Together, we explore areas such as:

  • What each of your values should look and feel like in practice
  • The behaviours that demonstrate each value
  • Behaviours that are inconsistent with your values
  • What your values mean for leaders and managers
  • How your values can influence everyday decisions and ways of working
  • Where your values can be reinforced through key people practices
  • How your organisation can recognise and reinforce values-led behaviour
  • What will help your values become part of your culture

We use these insights to translate your values into clear behavioural expectations and practical ways to reinforce them across your organisation.

The aim is to close the gap between your stated values and the way people experience them every day.

You’ll receive a Values in Action Framework that translates your organisational values into clear, observable behaviours, together with practical recommendations for reinforcing them across your organisation.

This will include:

  • Behavioural expectations – clear, observable behaviours that show what each value looks like in practice
  • What it doesn’t look like – behaviours that are inconsistent with each value
  • Leadership expectations – how leaders and managers can role-model and reinforce the values
  • People practice connections – opportunities to reinforce your values through areas such as recruitment, onboarding, performance and recognition
  • Values reinforcement recommendations – practical ways to reinforce your values and help make them part of everyday organisational life

Values people can put into practice
You’ll have a clear framework that helps your people understand not just what your values are, but what they mean for how people work, lead and make decisions every day.

We work with you throughout the process to turn your existing values into behaviours and ways of working that make sense for your organisation.

  1. We understand your values and organisation
We start by understanding your existing values, your culture and what you want bringing your values to life to achieve.
  2. We gather insight
We engage with agreed stakeholders to understand how your values are experienced today, where they are already visible and where there may be gaps.
  3. We define the behaviours together
We facilitate focused discussions to explore what each value looks like in practice, including the behaviours you want to encourage and those that are inconsistent with your values.
  4. We develop your values framework
PeopleCore brings the insights together into a clear framework of behavioural and leadership expectations for each value.
  5. We identify where to reinforce your values
We look at where your values can be reinforced through everyday people practices such as recruitment, onboarding, performance and recognition.
  6. We develop your reinforcement recommendations
We bring everything together with practical recommendations for reinforcing your values and helping them become part of everyday organisational life.

How long does it take?
Bring Your Values to Life typically takes 3–6 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your organisation, the number of values, the level of stakeholder involvement and the scope agreed with you at the outset.

Every organisation is different, so we’ll start with a complimentary conversation to understand what you need and the scope of the work.

During your scoping call, we’ll discuss:

  • Your existing organisational values
  • What is driving the need to bring them to life
  • How your values are currently understood and used
  • What you want to achieve
  • Who you want to involve in the process
  • The level of stakeholder engagement needed
  • Where you would particularly like your values to have greater impact
  • Your preferred timeframe

Following the conversation, where there is enough information, we’ll provide a clear proposal setting out the recommended approach, scope, timeframe and cost. Where the requirement is more complex, we’ll confirm any further scoping needed before preparing your proposal.

This work is designed for organisations that already have established values and want to make them more meaningful and visible in everyday working life.

The work includes translating your values into clear behavioural expectations, identifying how leaders can reinforce them and providing practical recommendations for reinforcing your values across the organisation.

It does not include redesigning or replacing your existing values, organisation-wide implementation, communication campaigns, redesigning individual HR processes, policies or systems, leadership development or ongoing culture change support. These can be commissioned separately where needed.

Bringing your values to life is an ongoing process. Your Values in Action Framework and reinforcement recommendations give you a clear foundation, but sustained leadership attention and reinforcement will be important in making the values part of how your organisation works.

What happens next is up to you. You can take the Values in Action Framework and recommendations forward with your own team or ask PeopleCore to support you with specific areas of implementation. There is no obligation to purchase further support.
